LIV Chats To…Colour Lover Amara About Her Beautiful Bright Style And Amazing Rental Tips

This week we're chatting to Amara from @thepajaamahub - her style mixes bright Colours and joyful accessories.

Hi Amara, first things first, please can you introduce yourself!

Hi, I am Amara from @thepajaamahub. I am a mama bear by heart, content creator and nocturnal rental hacker living in Berkshire with my husband and three children. I also run my small business The Faff Store where I sell quirky and meaningful art prints curated around mental health and positivity.

Please tell us more about your stunning home and how @thepajaamahub came about?

It is a rental home as it suits our lifestyle but when we moved in it was quite a magnolia box. We are five people who live in this house each with their unique personality & I wanted to create a space that would reflect us as a family: welcoming, connected and artistic. Hasham is an ex-pilot so we have always lived in rentals and from the very early years of our marriage, I became quite seasoned at personalising spaces even though they weren’t mine. For a person who loves life in technicolour, magnolia properties have always been a challenge I have enjoyed and through @thepajaamahub I want to show renters to do the same with some unusual design ideas and rental hacks.

Please could you describe your interior style, has it always been the same or has it evolved over time?

I consider myself a colour enthusiast on the edge of maximalism and an admirer of eclectic spaces. I quite enjoy creating a happy balance of cohesion and complication in my décor. I would say my penchant for colour has always been there but the way I use it in my spaces has surely become bolder and more daring. Many mistakes have been made on this journey of finding my core style with all honesty and I am always happy to admit that. They helped me filter out what didn’t resonate with me and made me more confident.

What brands or trends inspire you or your house purchases?

I love it when brands do collabs with upcoming artists and provide them a platform to showcase their work. One of my favourite brands is Anthropologie because of their enthusiasm to nurture creativity. I love a fusion of vintage pieces, quirky patterns and sophisticated accessories.

As far as trends are concerned, I am never scared to try them if they resonate with my style.

What interior Instagram accounts inspire you, could you name your top 3?

I am a HUGE fan of a ton of accounts on Instagram and will always be grateful for the inspiration they have given me but these three are a powerhouse of positivity:

1. @Comedowntothewoods

2. @Sixat21

3. @GettingStuffDoneOnHeels

We love the way you use bright colours; do you have any tips for our followers on how to bring colour into their home?

If you can’t paint the walls like me invest in colourful statement pieces and build your room around those (I adore my mustard yellow sofa).

Don’t underestimate the power of a gallery wall.

Create a dramatic impact by DIYing a statement headboard.

Stick on floor tiles can be used to create a faux tiled wall look.

Light fixtures are a great way to add colour too, think outside the box and don’t be scared to try unusual ways to add colour.

I have used 9 different hacks in my home to showcase how one can add colour to a rental home while keeping it damage free and I am always a DM away if anyone needs any help in understanding those.

You have become known for your incredible rental tips and tricks, what is your go-to interior trick?

Life is too short to wait for a permanent home so you can style them the way you wish. Change your mindset and make your rental a narration of your dream home. Vinyl is renter’s best friend as it allows one to update a boring wall, dated kitchen cabinets and hide any unpleasant surfaces.

If you had to change one thing about your lovely home, what would it be and why?

I would give myself free reign to paint the home. There will be murals everywhere, wallpaper galore and bold painted doors. You have me dreaming!

Oh, and I would also redo the whole kitchen as it is THE most unexciting space in the house.

What's your favourite home purchase you have made

recently and is there anything on your wishlist?

It has to be the dried hydrangeas I found on ebay for around £12, I never thought I would be able to find them!

My wishlist has Soane Britain fabric on it for an upholstery project, currently, I am busy saving up for that.

And finally, what does the future hold for @thepajaamahub, is there anything left up your sleeve?

There are many exciting projects in the pipeline specially aimed at renters. A painted ceiling, kitchen makeover and my bedroom glow up have me all pumped up. I am really hoping that someone out there can find these ideas helpful to fall in love with their rental again.
