Green with Envy: Celebrating Shades of Green in our Homes
We’ve been going crazy for colour recently - even our logo has been gripped by gen-z yellow fever – and can’t wait to introduce you to this autumn’s biggest colour trend: green. It seems we can’t escape this colour, from paint collections to bathroom design, green is definitely the new black. To celebrate the return of these serene greens we have put together some inspiration for the different shades of green you can embrace this season.
deep green
Always popular in the colder months, this dark mix of forest and teal is a firm favourite for green interiors. We love the contrast of the natural botanical print wallpaper with the tongue and groove panelling in Benjamin Moore’s Calypso Green. There is a strange comfort to this dark, enveloping shade and we love how chic and elegant it looks. As you can see in this shot from Gemini Tiles, deep green looks particularly amazing when it is incorporated throughout a whole space; the dramatic effect of matching walls and furniture pieces is a beautiful, if a little impractical, way to decorate your home. For a more usable approach to this trend, we love the combination of this dark green ROM sofa and soft sage walls.
Sage
Pinterest has named sage the most ‘up-and-coming’ colour of the season, with saves for posts containing the colour up by 170 percent. We think its pale, cool tones make it ideal for use as a modern neutral in your home; abandon the traditional beiges and whites, and opt for blonde woods and whites to create a minimal, natural look. Natural shapes and colours are an increasingly popular trend. While technology is trading its stringent angles for softened curves, subtle green hues have found their way on to catwalks and into our homes. This wood-burning stove from Arada in chestnut brown compliments the soft sage colour palette to create a natural, autumnal space.
Teal
Whilst not exclusively “green”, teal is often included in this palette because of its subtle turquoise undertones. This mix of blue / green has had a rise in popularity recently and a teal shade was even included in Little Greene’s new palette of 31 greens (read our blog about it here). This kitchen by deVOL is a beautiful example of how to integrate this colour into a space without it feeling garish or dominant.
