A Sneak Peek at IKEA's New Limited Edition Collection
Everyone’s favourite Swedish furniture company, IKEA is releasing a limited edition collection in October. Självständig is all about liberating consumers from conventions at home, and designs have been created with the intention of enabling creativity and individuality.

Unlike anything we’ve ever seen from the brand before, this collection is full of bold colours, patterns and a totally unprecedented aesthetic. “We really dug into the topic of creativity and started looking at what it means to be rebellious and independent with products and home furnishing”, explains Maria O’Brian, IKEA Creative Leader. In essence, the collection can be whatever you want it to be, the brand wants you to experiment with the products and build upon them in your home.
The playful nature of this collection is best exemplified in its modular rugs and carpets. Described as “jigsaw rugs”, hook and loop fasteners allow you to mix and match different geometric shapes and patterns to create a unique rug that can be altered whenever you please, making them the perfect addition to a collection inspired by the DIY movements – all you Pinterest users out there take note. “It’s about showing off your personality”, says Maria, and we’re in love with this relaxed and personal approach to home design from a company renowned for uniformity and simplicity. The Självständig collection will be available for a limited time in October 2018.
